Q: Do I need to purchase the RIB (Break-out Box) for my RIP Panel to work?
A: No, you do not. The I/O Panel (IOP4R-1) was designed to perform independently of the BOB4R-1, but with limited functionality. See our spec page to see what functions your get with the IOP4R-1.
Q: How long of a DVI-I cable can I use for my panel and box to work properly?
A: Currently, you can use a cable that is up to 50 feet in length.
Q: Do you offer 'Group Buys' or large group discounts?
A: Yes we do. Generally the group buy goes under an organizers name (whom ever calls first wanting to start a group buy). You can then call (718) 626-2646 to get your name on the list and fill out our order application. Once the group has reached a certain number of serious participants, they will all be notified, charged and shipped their orders.
Q: Should I remove the panel from the camera after each use?
A: There is no need to remove the panel from the RED ONE Digital camera. It has been designed to remain on the camera for quick and easy operation in the field.
Q: Does it downconvert to SD?
A: Incorporating an HDSDI>SD downconverter would dramatically increase the sales price. In addition, many of the people we consulted with said that most production sets have switched over to HD monitors. However, we are still considering and researching an ADD-ON option for downconverting which would plug directly into the DVI-I connector on the IOP4R-1 Panel. Please let us know if this ADD-ON option would be of interest to you.
Q: Can I use standard DVI cables to connect the panel and box?
A: Yes, but with limited functions. Because there are not enough pairs in a standard DVI cable vs. a DVI-I, not all I/O’s will make it to the BOB4R-1. But we are certain that you will be happy to see that the most needed ones do. Here is a chart of which DVI delivers which functions. Click here to view "Which DVI" ?
Q: Are you associated with the RED ONE Digital Camera Company?
A: No, we are not affiliated with the RED Digital Camera Company, but they are aware of our interests in designing options and accessories for their camera system.
Q: What happened to Toys4Red?
A: Air Sea Land Gear was always the name of the company selling these products. Toys4Red was a domain we were using to sell accessories for the RED One® camera. Since we intend to offer products from other manufactures we felt it best to change the site name before our main product launch.
Q: What is the warranty period for my RIP and RIB, and what does it cover?
A: Both your IOP4R-1 and BOB4R-1 are covered by a one-year warranty from the date of shipment. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship; however it does NOT cover connectors and cables due to normal wear and tear. If your item is returned for repair, you must first approve a repair estimate before a work order begins. Please read the "Repairs" and "Warranty" sections on our Terms and Conditions page for more information.
